About Peter Maxwell-Lyte

Most people who write wills come from a legal background. Peter Maxwell-Lyte comes from a different direction entirely - and that difference matters.

With over 25 years of later life financial planning behind him, Peter understands not just what a will needs to say, but what it needs to protect. The pensions, the property, the family dynamics, the tax implications, the people who depend on getting it right. That depth of financial knowledge is rare in will writing, and it shapes every conversation he has with clients.

A Career Built Around Later Life

Peter began advising clients on later life financial planning in the late 1990s, at a time when equity release was an emerging and largely misunderstood market. He became one of its earliest and most committed advocates - not because it was fashionable, but because he saw at first hand the difference it could make to people's financial futures.

When the Equity Release Council was established to bring professional standards to the sector, Peter was the first adviser in the country to join as a member. That commitment to doing things properly, and to putting clients' long-term interests first, has defined his approach ever since.

Over the decades that followed, Peter developed a particular specialism in cashflow modelling - the discipline of helping clients see their financial future unfold clearly, so they can make better decisions today. It is a skill that translates directly into estate planning: understanding not just what someone has, but what they will need, and what they want to leave behind.
